San Francisco Giants
The San Francisco Giants boasts of a colorful history. Founded in 1883 as Gothams, the name Giants came from Jim Mutrie, one of the owners of the team. It came from Mutrie who owns the San Francisco Giants at that time, when he praised the team with their win, “My big fellows, my Giants!” and the name stuck.
For years the San Francisco Giants was very productive, appearing in the Pennants three times before the 1905 San Francisco Giants won their first World Series. All these happened while they were changing San Francisco Giants stadium four times from the date the team was established. Through the years until this writing, the San Francisco Giants have won a total of five World Series; 20 National League Pennants appearances; and six division titles.
The San Francisco Giants logo has experienced various transformations, from a mere intercrossed letters of N and Y, the logo is now a baseball with the words Giants on top of it. The San Francisco Giants sports a different logo on their caps which are the letters S and F written in red and interconnected with each other. The current San Francisco Giants jersey is in plain white for home games, and the name San Francisco, in gray clothing when they are away.
All preparations start with the San Francisco Giants’ spring training schedule. Preseason games are held to gauge the roster’s ability for the season. This year, the San Francisco Giants stadium will host the 2007all star wherein they also unveiled the official logo only for the occasion: the San Francisco Bridge with the leagues logo with the name all-star game and the year.
