Baseball Shoes
Baseball shoes are shoes that are especially developed for the game of baseball. They come in different designs and specifications for various kinds of playing conditions.
Baseball shoes are often spiked to improve traction on the field when running. There are also baseball shoes that do not have spikes under them, and these are called the baseball turf shoes. One example of a famous brand of baseball shoe that belongs to the turf-type is the Puma baseball turf shoes. Another type of baseball footwear that does not have the typical spikes needed for softer playing fields is the baseball training shoes. Just like the turf shoes, these shoes have no spikes under them and are suitable for use on fields that are either made of synthetic material, or on hard packed dirt. These training shoes are also used for running drills, batting and pitching practice. Coaches’ baseball shoes are also without spikes, and they are classed among the trainers and the turf baseball footwear.
According to baseball shoe history, the earliest baseball shoes that players wore were made of canvas, and they were without spikes. Since canvas are not so durable, shoe makers tried out different material combinations to find the best one to use for baseball footwear. Pretty soon, the canvas was combined with leather components for better durability. It was in the 1870s when the traditional spikes or cleats were formally introduced as part of the baseball shoe, although there were earlier removable versions of these spikes in the 1860s. The all-leather version of baseball shoes soon became a fast trend because they are more durable and easier to clean.
Some of the more popular baseball shoe brands that are seeing brisk sales include Japanese brand Mizuno baseball shoes, Nike baseball shoes, Adidas baseball shoes and Reebok baseball shoes. These brands come in men's sizes and designs, women’s sizes and designs and in youth baseball shoes for little leaguers and tee-ballers.
Puma baseball shoes and Under Armour baseball shoes are also pretty popular among the players of this sport. While most brand name baseball footwear can cost you a pretty penny, there are some brand name baseball shoes, like the Reebok baseball shoe, for example, that can be had at discount prices. The trick to finding reasonably priced baseball footwear is to search through online shoe stores that sell surplus shoes from these famous brand manufacturers. You can also find bargain baseball shoes on auction sites, although some of these may be slightly used.
